Cleaning – Protection & Maintenance
Care of Exterior Flooring
Exterior paving with precast concrete paving blocks, paving slabs or Matonela® terrazzo tiles (shotblasted, flat or textured surface) does not require special care since they can be easily cleaned from dust, mud, etc. with a water jet pressure and a stiff broom.
A possible problem may be, at some point, "difficult" stains such as oil, coffee, etc. However, this will be temporary as, over time, such stains will be slowly absorbed and disappear from the surface. The most common types of stains can be treated with one of our cleaners:
- Oil stains are easily removed with the help of "BPB Oil Removal Spray" (link).
- For rust stains you can use the "BPB Rust Remover" (link).
- For removing efflorescence stains, we recommend "KALKEX-ÖKO". (link)
- For organic stains (leaves, tree fruit) you can use our "BPB System Cleaner Intense".
For cleaning other "special" types of stains, you can always ask!
In general, if you want a floor that is always kept clean, 2 options are available:
- To use a neutral cleaner for natural stones (not caustic products or acids such as hydrochloric acid or alkaline products such as various commercial powders).
- Waterproof with a breathable impregnation product (Imp Dense Surface) or seal the floor (Transparent Lack L2000) immediately after installation, thus protecting the floor and preventing future stains. This makes subsequent cleaning quicker and easier (always using a neutral cleaner).
- Finally, there are special products for revitalising / refreshing concrete paving blocks and flags, hardening the surface or sealing it for special uses that make them resistant to chemicals and acids.
Interior Floor Care
For the maintenance of indoor floors featuring Matonela® tiles for interiors, it is highly advised to apply a waterproofing treatment to the floor. Additionally, it is crucial to always utilize a neutral cleaner specifically designed for marble and natural stone when cleaning the floor.
However, if you happen to encounter a stubborn stain that you are unable to eliminate, please feel free to seek our assistance. It is always preferable to consult professionals rather than attempting to clean the floor yourself using unsuitable cleaning agents that could potentially harm the floor.
