Environmental Awards 2024
The Environmental Awards 2024, unique awards that highlight and reward good practices and initiatives for the protection of the Environment and Sustainability, as well as innovative "green" projects, technologies or programs, announced their winners on Monday 30 September at the Anais Club.
The innovative practices highlighted through the Environmental Awards 2024 prove that in a year full of challenges for systems and people, the transition to the new sustainable economic model of business development and environmental protection has continued unabated as it equates to business profitability.
In a lively and optimistic event, the business executives received their awards, were photographed with colleagues and members of the award evaluation committee, made on-camera statements and had a relaxed discussion under perfectly safe conditions.
The aim of the Environmental Awards 2024, organized for the 7th year by BOUSSIAS Events, is to:
Motivate businesses and organisations to continuously improve their environmental performance.
Highlight the winners of the awards and promote environmental awareness and culture to the general public.
Encourage the rational management of resources.
Highlight practices for environmental protection and sustainability Improve the image of businesses and demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Dr. Dionysia - Theodora Avgerinopoulou, Chairwoman of the Environment Committee of the Parliament, Member of Parliament for the prefecture of Ilia N. D and member of the Jury's presidium, gave a congratulatory message to the winners, encouraging them to continue with the same drive and creativity in their work, stressing that, "it was a pleasant surprise for her to receive such innovative initiatives in the awards, which gives an optimistic message that environmental protection and the circular economy can be put into practice and become a lever towards a green transformation, which is a key objective of the government.
Dr Katia Lazaridi, Professor, Chair of the Department of Geography, Harokopio University and member of the Jury's presidency, after congratulating the winners for their awarded good practices, highlighted in her statement the importance of the various initiatives by various companies, while she noted that their distinctions are not recorded as mere successes, but constitute an opportunity for improvement and development. Finally, she stressed that environmental protection equals profitability for businesses, as it reduces waste, reduces waste management costs through prevention, reuse and recycling, and improves the public image of the company, both for consumers, management and society at large.
Among the award winners and a purely Cretan manufacturing company, Tsimentodomi SA of brothers Petros and Michalis Ritsopoulos, which received two Gold Awards in Section 1: Resource Sustainability, in the category Climate Protection: GHG Offset and Carbon Offset
